On the occasion of the release of his latest work, Les cavaliers de l'apocalypse: La guerrlla anglaise en Languedoc, Auvergne et Limousin (1369-1393), historian Nicolas Savy, a specialist in the Hundred Years War, invites you to explore the great era of the famous «highway».
They were the embodiment of the «horsemen of the apocalypse». With this in mind, Nicolas Savy offers another reading of the tactical deployment of these troops, who have become professionals of war.
What role did the castle of Castelnaud play at that time? And its captain nicknamed «the Black Page»? By what stratagem did the local populations submit to these bands of truckers who sat for several decades in the fortress? Nicolas Savy tells us about slices of life lived during this famous conflict that made the Périgord one of the major stakes of the confrontation between France and England.
