Founded in 1776, the Agen Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts opens its doors to the public to present its premises, its rich libraries of local history and to make known its publications, such as the famous «Revue de l'Agenais» which appeared since 1875.
On the agenda:

an animation led by Evelyne Leterme will allow you to discover the richness of the Aquitaine fruit heritage.
At 3 p.m., a lecture by Michel Crapelet will tell you more about “Alcohol and History”.
throughout the afternoon, it is possible to buy books and journals published by the Academy at preferential prices.

Since 1776, the purpose of this scholarly society has been “the study of Arts, Letters, Sciences, Agriculture and Local History…”.
Heir to the Enlightenment, the Académie des Sciences Lettres et Arts d'Agen, or more simply the Société Académique d'Agen, was founded in 1776 under the impulse of scholars such as Lacépède, Boudon de Saint Amans, Paganel… to discuss topics such as physics, chemistry, astronomy, natural history, or prehistory, political, administrative, social history. Literature and Occitan are also strongly represented. Agriculture is at the heart of research.
Its motto: «Nexu sociantur amico».
