Mériadeck, a new look at heritage
Take part in three guided tours, a conference and presentations of the book "Mériadeck, parcours en ville" by Mathias Cisnal!
Mériadeck, neighbourhood route
Come discover or rediscover a unique heritage listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In the heart of Bordeaux, Mériadeck offers a modern contrast to the classicism of the historic city. From the swamps cleaned up in the 18th century by Ferdinand Maximilien de Mériadec de Rohan to the restructuring of the neighbourhood in the 1960s under the impetus of Jacques Chaban-Delmas, this islet in the city has always been a sign of progress and innovation. With its urban planning on slabs, it is today an exciting laboratory of architectural and urban experimentation.
Through three guided tours and a historical conference with Mathias Cisnal, architect and author of a guide published by Le festin, the Bordeaux Mériadeck Library invites you to discover, or rediscover, one of the most ambitious urban projects of the 20th century.
