Discover the interior renovation of the church, its paintings, the altar and the baroque altarpiece!
The visit is proposed by the association Sauvegarde de l'église de Soeix.
After the renovation of the roof in 2019, the municipality of Oloron Sainte-Marie undertook, in this first quarter of 2022, the renovation of the interior of the building: replacement of the vault, the electrical installation and the laying of the stone floor of Arudy.
Preliminary surveys had made it possible to find, under the brush of the late twentieth century, the painted decoration of the triumphal arch and a crown of red flowers around the dormer window of the choir. These 19th century paintings are being restored.
On the other hand, the financial contribution of the association «Sauvegarde de l'église de Soeix» makes it possible to envisage the restoration of the altar and altarpiece dating from 1724.
During this visit, the painter Jean-François Claver will present the techniques used for the cleaning and restoration of the furniture, as well as the reconstruction of the paintings of the choir.
