Castle built by Jean Anchot de Mesplès in 1715 on the bases of the old Noble House Anhanh which can be found since the twelfth century. Having fought with Henri IV during the conquest of the Kingdom of France in Provence, César De Mesplès was made Baron in 1723 then Jean Anchot De Mesplès Marquis in 1732\. Characteristic of Béarnaise architecture, the Castle of Mesplès is one of the rare testimonies of the art of living of the high Béarnaise aristocracy of the first half of the eighteenth century.
