The historic city of Lescar dates back to ancient times. In the Middle Ages, it was an important bishopric on the Camino de Compostela (Via d'Arles). Currently, the city shelters in its refuge the pilgrims who go towards the Col du Somport and further Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle.
