Built in the 13th century by the Escossan family, the castle dominates the Garonne valley. A powerful circular keep protects all the fortifications. Royal fortress in 1453, it belonged in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries to powerful families of governors, ministers and admirals. It was partially dismantled under the Fronde in 1650.
