During this heritage weekend, volunteers are working to create a fountain of traditional materials with the help of ancient heritage masons and fellow heritage masons trained at the building platform. ___
Created in October 2021, the association Périgord Pierre Sèche aims to relaunch the dry stone sector throughout the Dordogne department.
It is open to all, professionals and individuals alike.
The association highlights this technique of construction without any binder, using a noble and locally widespread material, as well as the diversity of the resulting structure, among other huts, retaining walls, hollow paths, slate roofs. A building that has accompanied and improved our lives since ancient times.
Through its activities of identification, restoration or creation of built heritage, but also days of initiations and training, the association makes it possible to create a real collective drive to raise awareness and valorize this knowledge-inscribe on the list of intangible heritage of UNESCO since November 2018, thus contributing to the return to the foreground of dry stone in Périgord!

The Cathedral of Saint-Sacerdos de Sarlat was declared a historical monument in 1840.
The shrine is dedicated to Saint Sacerdos born in Calviac, a neighbouring village of Sarlat who was bishop of Limoges in the 8th century.
The diocese of Sarlat was created in 1317 following the victory of the royal forces over the Albigensian Cathar armies. It was then that Pope John XXII, former bishop of Cahors, appointed the abbot of the Benedictine abbey Saint-Sacerdos as the new bishop of the city. The old Romanesque abbey became the cathedral of the diocese.
A modern reconstruction was undertaken in 1504 by Bishop Armand of Gontaud-Biron. Work was long and intermittent for lack of money, and also because of wars and epidemics. They ended only a century and a half later with the construction of the vaults, under the episcopate of Francis III de Salignac de la Mothe-Fénelon.
Like most ancient religious monuments, the building was extensively remodeled, reusing some Romanesque parts of the old abbe
