Discovery: The memorial bells of Tercis-les-Bains
Discovery: The memorial bells of Tercis les Bains
Built in 1849, the bell tower of the church of Tercis-les-Bains houses a commemorative bell tower of 3 bells unique in France. On 2 of the 3 bells, are engraved in 1924 the names and surnames of the 26 hairy tercisians who died for France during the First World War. On the 3rd bell, are engraved in 1933, the names of the 85 hairy survivors who returned from the Great War. This ensemble is a unique memorial work and has been classified as a Historic Monument since 2020.
In 2018, Francis Lanusse, thanks to his book "Les Poilus racontent Tercis", revives this historical heritage that has fallen into oblivion. The inhabitants were able to rediscover this unique memorial work bearing the collective memory of the village.
