The museum is housed in a mansion built in the late eighteenth century, emblematic of Bordeaux UNESCO World Heritage. Since 2018, the two buildings that make it up, the hotel of Lalande and a prison of the nineteenth century, are classified as Historical Monuments. Its collections are an example of French decorative arts, especially from Bordeaux, from the 18th and 19th centuries, and a testimony to the history of Bordeaux, a major trading port in the 18th century. Madd-bordeaux also offers a stimulating dialogue between decorative art and design through a renewed presentation of its design collection around major pieces by designers such as Enzo Mari, Philipe Starck, Ettore Sottsass and Nathalie Du Pasquier.
Spaces accessible to people with reduced mobility: the ground floor of the museum.
