It’s going to heat up at the forge!

Throughout the weekend, guided tours (free!) will introduce you to the sciences and techniques of the forge, as well as the work of a ceramist and a blacksmith cutler.

Discover the sciences and techniques of the forge, the work of the workers and the life of the forge master in the context of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The site also exceptionally hosts an artist and an artisan.
Catherine Mossière, ceramist of the Atelier du Brin d'Herbe, will present her experiments of melting slag (residues of ore reduction in a furnace) in porcelain cuts.
Serge Roubinet, cutler blacksmith, will come to make demonstrations of forge and present his collection of knives.
Visits in English are possible.

This forge is attested in 1521\. Its blast furnace was active until 1930, making it the last forge to operate with charcoal in France. The activity of drawing stopped in 1975\. Classified as Historic Monuments, this industrial site is visited from June to September included.
