Walks off the beaten path for an innovative form of springboard to employment.

THE RIDE:
Like the streams that run along the hillsides of the right bank before throwing themselves into the Garonne, our walk in Lorraine takes walkers through several neighborhoods that make this city rich. From the Carriet city Expansion to the natural riches of Fil Vert, from the steep streets of the old town to the new district of Rue des Arts, our urban enlighteners Neli and Aurélie let you discover this Gallo-Roman city and its place in the Bordeaux metropolis.
THE ASSOCIATION:
The Alternative Urbaine Bordeaux is developing a form of local and supportive tourism.
We have two missions:
Organize unusual walks in the unfamiliar or unfamiliar areas of the metropolis to contribute to a change of look.
→ Train and then hire local residents away from work to lead a cultural season of walks as an urban scout. This paid activity is a springboard back to a chosen and sustainable job.

Located on the right bank of the Garonne, downstream from the Port de la Lune, Lormont benefits from a privileged river facade. This position first made Lormont a defensive site. Its castle, strategically placed on the heights of the city, was owned by the Crown of England during its reign over Aquitaine then the Archbishopric of Bordeaux before becoming national property in 1789\. Many important events in the history of France took place there, including the negotiations that ended the Hundred Years' War.
Lormont was also a prosperous port and village, famous for the charm of its shore and its hillsides. Its fertile and winey lands, its boating, fishing, shipbuilding and the passage by water of a crowd of travelers made Lormont the most important of the suburbs of Bordeaux, appreciated for its shady hillsides and the animation of its guinguettes. Parliamentarians, merchants and other bourgeois Bordeaux built vast estates, beautiful houses, castles and country residences. Lormont’s cha
