Surrounded by its pretty cemetery, the church of Saint-Pierre-de-Monmes is one of the most endearing monuments of the Girondine Moors. In the Middle Ages, it was an important stage for the many pilgrims who took the «Tours route» to Santiago de Compostela.
The building is old, as confirmed by the walls of the apse and the nave built of small-scale rubble, characteristic of the late 11th century. At the beginning of the twelfth century, the apse received a vault in the oven and in the fourteenth century the portal of the church was established. In the 15th century, the nave was reinforced with Gothic buttresses and new bays. Then, a tower with a floor dedicated to defense is built to the west of the nave; the latter is enlarged by a south aisle. The church is listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments (1987).

Surrounded by its pretty cemetery, the church of Saint-Pierre-de-Mons is one of the most endearing monuments of the Landes girondines. It was, in the Middle Ages, an important stage for the many pilgrims who took the «way of Tours» to go to Santiago de Compostela. The building is old as confirmed by the walls of the apse and the nave built of small rubble, characteristic of the late 11th century. At the beginning of the twelfth century, the apse received a vault in cul-de-four and in the fourteenth century, the portal of the church was established. In the 15th century, the nave is reinforced by Gothic buttresses and pierced with new bays. Then, a tower with a floor dedicated to the defense is built to the west of the nave; the latter is enlarged on a low-south side. The church is included in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments (1987).
