Since the founding of his couture house in 1947, Christian Dior has made the hat an essential reference in Dior style, French Haute Couture and international fashion. L'Atelier Mode Dior, entirely dedicated to the creation of hats, has remained active throughout the seven decades of the house’s history. Since 1996, the great British milliner Stephen Jones has been perpetuating and nurturing this tradition with the successive artistic directors of the House of Dior until Maria Grazia Chiuri today.
In 2022, the Christian Dior Museum dedicated all of its exhibition rooms to the creative strength and know-how of the Dior hat. This exhibition is a first: an exceptional set of nearly two hundred hats will interact with thirty Dior Haute Couture dresses in «total look» as well as about fifty fashion photographs and beauty and makeup ads celebrating the art of hat.

About the location

Musée Christian Dior
Villa les Rhumbs, rue d'Estouteville, 50400 Granville
  • Manche
  • Normandie
The museum is housed in the childhood home of Christian Dior, Villa Les Rhumbs, owned by the municipality. The villa evokes the atmosphere and lifestyle of the early 20th century. It is located in the middle of a garden located on a cliff overlooking the sea. It is one of the few artists' gardens of the early twentieth century still preserved. Acquired by the town of Granville, the villa has been restored to restore its original appearance with its Anglo-Saxon seaside style from the beginning of the century.
