Abbey Benedictine based(established) by 1060 by the queen Mathilda, wife of William the Conqueror. She welcomed religious Benedictines up to French Revolution. The convent entirely rebuilt in the XVIIIth century s. is the seat(siege) of the Regional Council today. The minster of the Trinity shelters in its chorus(choir) the grave of the queen Mathilda. This church of Norman Romanic style was built between 1060-1080 before being altered at the beginning of the XIIth century.
