Classified as a historical monument since 1862, this pyramid celebrates the battle of Ivry the Battle. It took place on 14 March 1590 on the plain of Saint-André, between the town of Nonancourt and the town of Ivry. It is an obelisk erected on the territory of the commune of Épieds. This was one of the many clashes that bloodied the kingdom of France between 1562 and 1598, during the wars of religion. He pitted the Ligurian army of Charles de Lorraine, Duke of Mayenne, against the royal army commanded by Henri IV, who was victorious. Although it is an obelisk, the name of the pyramid has been preserved in reference to the original monument erected in 1758 by Louis Charles de Bourbon, Count of Eu to commemorate the battle. It was one foot wide by four high and was surrounded by bollards. The monument bears the following inscription: «This is the place where Henry IV was held on the day of the Battle, March 14, 1590». Indeed, the pyramid is at the place where Henry IV would have fallen asleep, under a pear tree, after the battle. Despite some vicissitudes, including a collapse during the 1999 storm, the restored site is permanently open to the public.
