Built in 1886 by Eugene Bourdais, the building resumes(takes back) an architectural vocabulary in the antique: the main facade giving on the boulevard of Strasbourg is framed(supervised) by the statues of the writer Bernardine de Saint-Pierre and of the poet Casimir Delavigne, the two emblematic fugures of the literature of the XIXth century, native of Havre.
