About the location

Chapelle Saint-Léger
10 rue de la chapelle, 27170 Le Plessis-Sainte-Opportune
  • Eure
  • Normandie
In the heart of Normandy, in the municipality of Plessis-Sainte-Opportune, the Domaine de Saint Léger is located on the edge of the forest, not far from the Risle valley. The current castle was built in the middle of the seventeenth century, inspired by French classicism of the time, and then underwent transformations in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The estate also includes an elegant dovecote, a chapel dedicated to Saint-Léger, as well as the old manor-barn dating from the Middle Ages. All the buildings take place in an English-style landscaped park and a preserved forest. The castle and the chapel were inscribed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments on 2 November 1976.
