In 1986, the Vernon Museum received a generous donation of works by Sarah Lipska, whose sole subject was the bird, a fetish animal she likes to observe at the Jardin des plantes. As of July 8, 2022, the colourful birds of Sarah Lipska temporarily leave their reserve to perform in the drawing room of the museum.
After 1945, Sarah Lipska imagined costumes and decorations in lush colors for an unfinished project of Ballet des Oiseaux with Serge Lifar, famous Ukrainian dancer and choreographer and former soloist of the Ballets Russes. Part of these studies and preparatory drawings are presented in this exhibition.
