Visite guidée de l’exposition L’observatoire photographique – Pierre Mourier (1950) – Henri Salesse (1959)/Christophe Halais (2020), Renouvellement urbain à Cherbourg-en-Cotentin

About the exhibition: Between 1945 and 1977, Henri Salesse, photographer-official, was commissioned by the Ministry of Reconstruction and Urban Planning (MRU) to draw up an inventory of housing in France. A privileged observer of a radical and spectacular transformation of the French territory, he photographed Cherbourg in 1959, succeeding his colleague Pierre Mourier who came in 1950.
In 2020, Christophe Halais, also a photographer, created a new set of images by renewing the work of Mourier and Salesse. The exhibition presents photographs taken at the same locations 70 or 61 years apart.
