The church of Savigny, located in Coutançais, is known for its rich Romanesque decoration - modillons, bas-relief of Christ in majesty, historiated arcades and its 14th-century mural paintings - cycle of Saint Beard inscribed in the arcades and surprising Last Supper with thirteen characters. Some of its elements are classified as historical monuments, the church itself is listed in its entirety in the Supplementary Inventory.
The church is visited but is also told, from its elevation at the beginning of the twelfth century to the rediscovery at the end of the nineteenth century of the hidden treasures it contained, from the quarrels of the nobles of the parish to the explorations of Abbé Joubin, his curious parish priest.
The guided tour is led by Agnès Lemesle, historian of the Association pour la Sauvegarde de l'Église de Savigny.
