Visit of the church St Paterne de Montrond

Visit of the church St Paterne of Montrond of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
17 and 18 September 2022Passed

It was during maintenance work undertaken in 1979 in the Church of St Paterne in Montrond that the wall paintings were discovered, hidden under a thick plaster cover and masked by a large altarpiece of the classical period, which was reinstalled at the back of the church. It should also be noted that during this restoration work, a set of “acoustic pots” were discovered in the walls of the choir, as exists in many churches in our region and whose use, it seems, dates back to the Gallo-roman. Finally, in the late 1990s, it was decided to replace the windows with stained glass.
