On April 26, 1803, a strong explosion was heard above L'Aigle, and a shower of stones fell around the city… A meteorite has fragmented into the atmosphere and thousands of meteoric stones are falling to the ground. The news arrived in Paris, where the Minister of the Interior sent the scientist Jean-Baptiste Biot to carry out an investigation. Biot’s study was the first to demonstrate the extraterrestrial origin of meteorites. The meteorite of L'Aigle then enters the history of science…

On April 28th, 1803, a meteorite broke in the atmosphere and these are thousands of "meteoric" stones which atteigent the ground of The Eagle. To celebrate the bicentenary of the fall of the meteorite, the municipality of The Eagle realised a permanent exhibition of the fragments of this meteorite.
