From 16 to 18 September, the City of Neubourg will host the first edition of a festival to be held in the gardens of the Old Castle on the initiative of Aline César, author and director from Neubourg.
This festival will draw its inspiration from the history of the Old Castle, a feudal site marked by the creation of the opera-fairy tale La toison d'or de Corneille, and will be placed under the sign of theatre, music and travel.
On the program, shows to see in family, for children and for adults: Cher Odon, a historical comedy featuring Odon, Bishop of Bayeux of the 11th century, for toddlers, And if you dance, a dance-theatre show on the history of Poucet become great, Aphra Behn, Punk and Poetess, a reading-concert about the English writer, spy and traveler of the seventeenth century and a concert of pop songs with the vitamin duo Kim&Cléa (Cléa Vincent, Kim Giani). Simonetta can also be found in the surroundings, a theatrical and musical walk on the muse of Botticelli, the Renaissance painter. Because the shows will mainly take place in the gardens of the Old Castle but also in the surroundings, in neighboring municipalities.
In the morning, the festival will also offer participatory workshops for young people and for all generations: a song creation workshop and a creative workshop around the archives of the Old Castle and the local heritage. Following the festival, Aline César’s company will also conduct writing, theatre and song workshops in the Neubourg schools throughout the year on the theme of the Argonauts' journey.
Many more surprises await visitors to the Heritage Days: readings whispered under the apple trees, a snack bar where you can taste «Cidre de Corneille» and «impromptus» which will reveal in a playful and unexpected way the identity of the festival, between theatre, music and wonderful travel.
