IN THE ROUEN SPRING
Inaugurated on October 15, 1928, 93 years ago, Printemps Rouen is the third oldest store in the province. Heir to two older novelty stores, La Providence and Le Sans Pareil, the largest department store in Rouen will bear the poetic name of Printania until the 1960s.
Bombed and destroyed in April 1944, Printemps was completely rebuilt in 1954 with all the emblematic developments of the architecture of the Reconstruction: original concrete structure in arc of circle forming a fan, functional spaces, large windows. After a titanic deconstruction/reconstruction project, the store expanded in 1981 in the emblematic building «Maillet du Boulay» overlooking the cathedral.
