For the 2022 edition, the theatre unveils its matrimoine, presenting portraits of the women and artists who made the Odeon. In a historic building inaugurated by Marie-Antoinette, discover the influence of George Sand, Madeleine Renaud, Olympe de Gouges or Sarah Bernhardt.
Through this visit, you will also discover how the different fields of theatre are preparing the heritage of tomorrow, by reinventing their practices and know-how, for a more sustainable future.
Through this journey from the foyer to the large hall and to the terrace, learn how the great history of the Odeon changed and influenced its artistic evolution.
At the end of the visit "The Hidden Face of the Odeon", a 15-minute film, reveals the secrets of the theatre’s machinery and opens the doors of its construction workshops, with the actor Moustafa Benaïbout as a guide.

In their "jeu de paume" room on Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie, the ordinary actors of the King will be awarded in 1782 the first "theatre-monument" of the capital; it constitutes the central piece of a planning project built on the lands of the Prince de Condé, and whose architects are Marie-Joseph Peyre and Charles de Wailly, representatives of the neoclassical style, which they will help popularize. The building is distinguished by the austerity of its cubic forms, by its massivity and by its Doric order, to which the two architects had given a justification: it is the order of Apollo, the head of the muses. The monumental character of the building is therefore a reminder of the grandeur of the monuments of Greek antiquity. Exemplary in its urban qualities, it is also exemplary in the harmony of its interior proportions. It is also the first "Italian" theatre which offers the audience of the orchestra a floor filled with benches. The Odeon burned twice in 1799 and 1818, changed hands man
