Saint-Lubin Church

During the reconstruction of the church of Saint-Lubin in 1868, the architect Anatole de Baudot used materials of proximity such as millstone or adapted to circumstances such as the frame in glued oak blades (war of 1870 obliges). According to tradition, the materials (including stones) of the original 12th century church, near the town hall, have been reused in other constructions. Inside, a 17th century virgin has just been restored: the three previous initiatives have been taken into account. The building’s spiritual vocation led him through the years to lead the faithful to eternity.

Completed in 1871, the church of Saint-Lubin is a work of youth of Anatole de Baudot, the greatest of the students of Viollet-le-Duc. The latter paved the way for 20th-century architecture. Successive renovations, including the installation of stained glass windows by Gabriel Loire in 1970, have profoundly transformed our perception of this architectural work, which deserves to be honored. The recent cleaning of the tower-porch has thus revealed the blondness of the stone.
