It was in this famous hermitage that Chateaubriand undertook the writing of his "Mémoires d'outre-tombe". The author fashions the property to his liking, building a portico supported by two white marble cariatides and decorating the north facade in troubadour style. The wooded park, planted by the author himself, is a mirror of his native Brittany and his travels in America and the Mediterranean. The carefully restored house offers a refined decor in the taste of the early nineteenth century.
