Once planted with fruit trees, as its name suggests, the Plant was urbanized at the end of the 19th century. Its development was helped by the installation of the Great Belt station in 1876 (destroyed since).
There were two woods (Bois l'Huillier and Bois du Plant), quarries (gravel and alluvium), as well as horticulturists. At the end of the 19th century, every year in July, the Flower Festival was held, bringing together floats and girls dressed in flowers (about 1882, subsidized by the City Hall).
The old market garden vocation of the district leaves traces in the parcel area which still consists today of long and narrow units. The Plant is now mainly home to individual houses.
