Built by Catherine de Gonzague, Duchess of Longueville, the church of Notre-Dame-des-Anges was considered in the seventeenth century as the most beautiful Capucinière of the kingdom.
Today, it houses the collections of the Capuchin Municipal Museum, which trace the history of the city of Coulommiers from prehistoric times to the present day.
Inside the museum is also the Grotto of Shells, intended to receive the burial of the duchess, unique in France and Europe because of her religious theme.
Its unique character allowed it to be selected as part of the Stéphane Bern mission for the preservation of heritage.
