About the location

Opéra Bastille
2 place de la Bastille, 75012 Paris
  • Île-de-France
The Opéra Bastille, inaugurated on July 13, 1989, is the work of Uruguayan-Canadian architect Carlos Ott. Its architecture is marked by the transparency of the facades and by the use of identical materials inside and outside the building. With its 2,713 seats in homogeneous acoustics, its unique stage equipment, its integrated sets, costumes and accessories workshops, its work and rehearsal rooms, the Opéra Bastille is a large modern theatre, a production tool unique in the world. The Opera has cutting-edge craftsmanship and technology. This blend of innovations and ancestral know-how is visible in the workshops of the Opéra Bastille. In order for the show to take place, hundreds of people join forces and pool their know-how throughout the year. It is a real city that comes alive: technicians of stage engineering, sculptors and painters, seamstresses and hairdressers work alongside singers, dancers and musicians.
