On the occasion of the 2022 European Heritage Days, the City Hall opens its doors to the public. During your guided tour, you will discover the lobby, the Mayor’s Lobby, the Mayor’s Office, the Party Hall, the City Council Hall and the Wedding Hall, rooms rarely open to the public.
Guided tours of the City Hall, by the tour guides of the Versailles Tourist Office.
Departures in the lobby of the City Hall at the reception level.

Departures Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 to 2.30, 3.20 and 4.10
Groups limited to 35 people max
Food, bicycles, scooters and pousettes are not accepted inside the City Hall.
A tent for the pousettes will be present at the foot of the building.

The original building was built by the Marshal of Bellefonds and bought by Louis XIV for the Duke of Vermandois who, at his death, bequeathed it to his sister, the Princess of Conti. The hotel was bought in 1723 by Louis XV to house the Duke of Bourbon, Grand Master of the king’s house. In 1790, the King decided to grant it as Town Hall. In 1897, a municipal council deliberation established the principle of an organized competition for its reconstruction and the architect from Versailles, Henri Legrand, was entrusted with the work, which was completed in the summer of 1900\. Typical construction of the 3rd Republic, the City Hall becomes the only building exceeding the imposed height in the city. The modernization of the building has nevertheless preserved three beautiful prestigious rooms: the wedding hall whose magnificent woodwork, vestiges of the former hotel of Conti, are classified under the title of Historical Monuments; the Party Hall, which regularly hosts events, and the City
