Guided tour of the History Workshop
How and from which plays is the history of the present time written? How did we come to be interested in sources hitherto neglected - press, graphic works, tracts, photographs, posters, audiovisual, web? Why do we focus on preserving the traces of our personal or family history? Why do activists gather archives of their commitment? What is the interaction between the views of the historian, the activist and the citizen? Why and how to pass these materials on to future generations? Through a stroll through the collections of La contemporaine (paintings of the Great War, tracts, sketches of the Liberation Trials or notebooks of the Algerian War, archives collected hot during the Russian Revolution or samizdats of the years 1970-1980, works of photojournalists, interviews filmed, Fonds d'archives militants ou associatifs,...), l'Atelier de l'histoire questions our relationship to contemporary history and its sources.
