Ville de Clamart

Founded in 1878, the Hospice Ferrari is nestled in a green setting, reflecting the scenic tastes of the 19th century. Visitors will be able to discover the exterior of this little-known yet exceptional heritage located in the heart of the City. Its water tower is considered to be one of the oldest works of reinforced cement in France, created by Joseph Monnier – himself considered as one of the inventors of what reinforced concrete will become very quickly.
This event is likely to be cancelled if the health situation changes.

Hospice built between 1877 and 1888 by architect Léon Ginain for the Duchess of Galliera. The chapel, located in the centre of the buildings, has an interior decoration of Byzantine inspiration (Justinian era). The laundry room and water tower are independent buildings built by architect Prosper Bobin. The laundry room, with its polychrome brick facades and metal supports and frames, is an example of Rationalist architecture of the late 19th century. The water tower was built entirely of reinforced cement by Joseph Monier, inventor of a process applied to tanks and reservoirs since the 1860s.
