The Military School is located in the heart of Paris at one of the ends of the Champ de Mars (7th arrdt), facing the Eiffel Tower. Founded in 1751 under the reign of Louis XV, it saw Napoleon I, who was also a student there, Queen Victoria, Napoleon III, General De Gaulle and Pope John Paul II. It was declared a historic monument in 1990.
More than 270 years after its creation, the Military School continues its mission: the higher military education of officers.
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, children can not only visit the Military School but also learn about a fun obstacle course. A diploma is awarded to each participant.

Louis XV, at the instigation of the Paris brothers and Madame de Pompadour, set his sights on the plain of Grenelle, a former Garenne, which was part of the Sainte-Geneviève abbey and part of the Hôtel des Invalides in order to create a military school.
