Exclusive screening of the film iakoute L'Oiseau-Roi, 2018 ▪ Sakha Cinema – Iakoutie (Russia) in Paris
Exclusively for JEP 2022, the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Centre in Paris in collaboration with the Ministry of External Relations and Ethnic Affairs of the Republic of Sakha – Yakutia (Russian Federation) and the production company SAKHA FILM present the screening of the feature film L'Oiseau-Roi, 2018, directed by Edouard Novikov. Awarded the Grand Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival in 2018, this film drew attention to the yakut film industry, which is growing by becoming a real phenomenon.
Synopsis: In the 1930s, in the deep taiga of Yakutia, the old couple, Mikipper and his wife Oppouos, end their days. They lead a rustic life, between hunting, fishing and cows. One day at the beginning of winter comes an eagle, the bird considered sacred. They feed him all winter. On particularly cold Christmas Eve, the eagle enters the house and stands in the venerated corner next to the icons. From this day the man, the woman and the bird begin to live together.
