Modern Lovers

Exhibition of Karina Bisch and Nicolas Chardon until November 6, 2022

Karina Bisch and Nicolas Chardon each develop a singular work that is part of the utopian projects of the historical avant-garde of the early 20th century. They practice a scholarly and burlesque “painting to live on” at the same time. Their respective researches increase with four hands.
The exhibition at MAC VAL – Musée d'art contemporain du Val-de-Marne has fun with the idea of a pavilion: programmatic architectural follies of universal exhibitions, housing, standard, etc. and offers a huge «living machine», bringing together works of each other and common works in an original scenography between case, model and decor abolishing the border between art and life.

Certainly the identity of MAC VAL rests above all on a humanist vision of culture. This peculiarity of the museum is part of the national and international museum landscape, accompanying the artistic policy based on the historical anchoring of the collection in the 1950s and its prospective vision: report on the creation of today through the enrichment of the collection of existing works and commissions, invitations to artists.
