About the location

La Chapelle Souterraine du Presbytère
25 rue Thiers 95300 Pontoise
  • Val-d'Oise
  • Île-de-France
The old centre and the castle of Pontoise were built on a limestone soil. The extraction of the materials necessary for the construction has left many cellars with varied styles. This cellar probably corresponds to a quarry of limestone partially developed. It consists of two irregular bays and a circular gallery cut into the rock.
