Debate on the specificity of climate change on women

To celebrate the European Heritage Days, the Maison de l'Europe in Paris invites you to participate in the following debate: «Women and the fight against climate change: what is at stake?».
Saturday 17 September 2022, 18:00Passed

Launched in 1985, the European Heritage Days have been organised jointly by the Council of Europe and the European Union since 1999. The 50 signatory states of the European Cultural Convention participate in these days by highlighting new cultural treasures and opening historical buildings usually closed to the public. The theme of the 2022 European Heritage Days will be Sustainable Heritage.
On the occasion of the photographic exhibition of Oxfam France "Vies et Visages des changements climatiques", the Maison de l'Europe de Paris, Oxfam France and the Paris office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation invite you to discuss gender issues, climate and inequality with a European lens. If climate change impacts all, it is women and the most vulnerable populations who are already and will be most affected. In light of this, we invite you to debate the specificity of climate change on women, the expectations of civil society and the European responses to provide.
With the participation of Elise Naccarato, Climate Campaign Manager, Oxfam France, Marie Toussaint, Member of the European Parliament, Groupe VERTS/ ALE, and a researcher specialized in gender and environmental issues.
The debate will be moderated by ARTE journalist Romy Strassenburg;
Event organised as part of the activities of the Europe Direct Information Centre.

The Maison de l'Europe de Paris is an association governed by the law of 1901 created in 1956 and recognized of public utility by decree in 1973.
Because we need a European public space, the association offers Parisians and Parisians to live Europe on a daily basis.
It is a meeting point for all those who feel the need to discuss European projects and dossiers without necessarily being specialists or convinced. It is also a place open to the public offering a personalised information service through its Europe Direct Information Centre.
House for European citizenship, the House of Europe is open to all, of all ages, of all nationalities, including in its perspective non-Community foreigners.
Working for an active and inclusive European citizenship, the Europe House explores in particular the cultural dimension of the European project, the representation of borders, the democratic and participatory, educational, economic and social issues of Europe.
