Through an initiatory journey, IVT- International Visual Theatre opens its doors to share its history and share its missions as a resource centre for deaf culture and sign language. This is also an opportunity to reveal what lies behind the curtain! Indeed, behind the light of the scene, hides an army of shadows composed of different trades that will be delighted to expose themselves for a day. We’re expecting you at IVT!

IVT International Visual Theatre is a laboratory for artistic, linguistic and educational research on sign language, visual and physical arts. At the same time concert hall, publishing house, place of artistic creation and school of sign language, IVT is a cultural crossroads, a space of exchanges and discoveries for the deaf and hearing. In the 18th century, this building was first a chapel. In 1895, it became a performance hall which took the name of Théâtre-Salon, then which knew its glory hours from 1897 to 1962 as the Théâtre du Grand-Guignol, playing on laughter and terror. The building then became the rehearsal and performance room of the Rue Blanche school (ENSAT) until 1997\. In 2004, IVT obtained this site and undertook major works. The theatre opened in January 2007\. Today, the facade (restored in 2010) and 4 paintings by Alfred Choubrac dating from the end of the 19th century remain.
