When Draveil revives his cinema

These 2022 Heritage Days will be dedicated to cinema! After months of closure due to the pandemic, and attendance that has still not returned to the level of previous years, cinema, a vector of culture, pleasure but also jobs and wealth, enchants us throughout our lives. Children who have grown up, all the actors must therefore mobilize so that magic continues to operate.
In Draveil, the municipality is fully involved, accompanied by the owner of the premises, the cooperative society of Paris-Jardins in the project to reopen the Orangerie cinema, led by a private operator. Let’s find together the path of the local cinema! With a reasonably priced ticket, let’s once again share a common and collective experience, one where we meet at the same time and in the same place - the dark room, a film, a filmmaker and spectators.
Who, as a child of Draveil, could best speak of the importance and joy of being able to discover the world through cinema if not director Jean-Jacques Annaud?
As a child, living in the La Villa district of Draveil, he went with his parents to the Le Draveil Palace cinema on Rue Jean Jaurès, where he discovered French, Italian and Russian cinema.
The occasion was therefore very good to honour one of the greatest directors of international renown, and to allow, thanks to him, to lift a corner of the veil on his work by opening the doors of the foundation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé.

Exposure:

  • Jean-Jacques Annaud, “a life dedicated to cinema”: the Jérôme Seydoux Foundation – Pathé makes available to us a part of its collection dedicated to the filmmaker, including photographs, storyboards, posters, etc. as well as decorative elements and models of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris created for its latest film «Notre-Dame brûle». Exhibition produced by the Urban Planning and Heritage Department, with the participation of SDIS 91.
  • Cinemas in Draveil: this exhibition is dedicated to the former Draveillois cinemas (1930s) and the project to reopen the Orangerie cinema. Exhibition produced by the urban planning and heritage department, with the participation of the cooperative society of Paris-Jardins.
  • The city is a cinema set, an exhibition created by the Maison de Banlieue et de l'Architecture.

From the first castle built under the reign of Henry IV remain the two entrance pavilions, on both sides of the grille of honour opposite the alley of lime trees called "Allée des Tilleuls Louis XIV " because planted under the reign of this king. After a fire in 1780, the Count of Bombelle, owner of the castle, Brigadier of the King’s armies and hero of the Battle of Fontenoy built the main building in a pure neoclassical style of the Louis XVI era. The lower side wings were built by his successor, the republican, director of army fodder, Charles Levavasseur. In 1837, the castle became the property of the Pécoul family, owner of sugar cane plantations in Martinique. In 1954, the castle and the estate, more than 40 hectares, were sold by the Vicomte d'Origny to the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, which built buildings on the unclassified part of the land. In 1991, it was restored and transformed into a cultural centre. A wing houses the library-media library and the lounges are tran
