Exhibition "Pierre Brun: draughtsman"
The museum wants to celebrate another sculptor Pierre Brun’s talent: drawing. Born in 1915 in Saint-Étienne, he discovered the sculptor and the drawing while he was a prisoner of an officers' camp in Moravia during the Second World War. Upon his release, he entered the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris to study with Paul Niclausse and Georges Saupique. He quickly achieved success and divided his time between private and public commissions and his various teaching positions. In the 1980s, he moved his studio to Boissy-le-Châtel where he died in 2011. The drawings, which were donated by the Schelstraete family, illustrate the artist’s work on paper, including numerous preparatory sketches for his sculptures. It is also the occasion to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the exhibition "Pierre Brun", organized in the park of Capucins in 2002, presenting many sculptures of the artist including the Oiseleur which has just been restored.
