"From Guillaume to Sophie": exhibition of artists' books from Archive Station, Immanence’s documentation and research centre

Archive Station, Immanence’s documentation and research centre, is a specialized library with holdings and documentary and heritage resources in the visual arts, photography, video, and new media in the 20th and 21st centuries.
The library consists of a set of 4000 pieces.
This project is structured around exceptional collections of artists' books, original documents such as manuscripts, correspondence, various multiples as well as a set of photographs, posters, leaflets, leaflets, periodicals, book models, collages, private collections of vinyl artists, magnetic tapes, cassettes and other documents. This ensemble represents the major movements of the 20th century.
We find there the books and sound documents of artists of the most significant movements of the last decades. 1 The Historic Site The 21 avenue du Maine is a place of remembrance, one of the islands witness to the artistic life of Montparnasse, composed of a group of workshops set up since the beginning of the century in a small cul-de-sac whose brick and glass buildings are buried under the virgin vine. It was in her studio that Marie Vassilief created the famous artists' canteen from 1902 to 1929, which brought together Braque, Max Jacob, Modigliani, Picasso, Ortiz, Matisse. In 1995, the alley was threatened by a real estate project, the occupants then mobilized the inhabitants of the neighborhood and personalities of the world of art and entertainment. The City of Paris became owner of the alley recognizing the historical character, true artistic heritage of the neighborhood and Paris decides to suspend its project and dedicate the alley to cultural projects.
