Since May 4, 2019, in a building overlooking a breathtaking landscape marked by the Great War, the Visitor Welcome Centre, tells you the story of the lives of thousands of soldiers plunged into the most terrible battles of the First World War.
Showcases presenting weapons and uniforms, alongside a huge interactive table allowing to discover the main memory sites to visit before going down 14 meters underground to visit the Cave of the Dragon.
This former stone quarry was plunged into the heart of the fighting between 1914 and 1918\. A place of cantonment, worship, infirmary and even cemetery, this «creute» changed sides many times during the war. At the end of the war, the Dragon Cave was home to the memory of thousands of combatants who came to fight there. Maintained by the will of veterans and that of French Remembrance, the site became departmental, has been the subject of several adjustments to meet each time the challenges of memory.
