Italian theatre inaugurated on September 24, 1911\. At the time, the theatre mainly programmed operettas, vaudevilles also played at the Valenciennes theatre. In 1997, a project for a cultural centre was selected by the Municipal Council: it consisted of the rehabilitated theatre, a multipurpose room and a media library of wood, glass and stone. In the spring of 2002, the first shows are given as a prefiguration of the first cultural season 2002-2003\. The renovation of the theatre is part of a broader cultural project, adopted by the Municipal Council of May 15, 1997; Landmark date which confirms the creation of a cultural pole, a total surface area of 4913 m2 consisting of the renovated theatre to which will be added 2 new equipment: a media library and an associated space.
