In the original buildings, the clothes hanging in the bathroom, the hundreds of authentic lamps, the impressive reels of the extraction machine… plunge you into the world of mining. Located in Lewarde, in 8km east of Douai in the North, the Mining Historic Centre is at the heart of the mineral basin. It is installed(settled) on tile(window pane) of the old(former) pit Delloye which groups(includes) 8000m ² industrial buildings(ships) and superstructures, on a 8 hectare site. It is classified as "Historic Monument" since September, 2009.
