In the company of a cultural mediator, young and old can «go down» and walk for an hour the various coal mining sites, from the time of «Germinal» to the 1990s. The operation of the machines, the sound atmospheres and the videos allow the public to relive these three centuries of mine history.

Located in Lewarde, in 8km east of Douai in the North, the Mining Historic Centre is at the heart of the mineral basin. It is installed(settled) on tile(window pane) of the old(former) pit Delloye which groups(includes) 8000m ² industrial buildings(ships) and superstructures, on a 8 hectare site. It is classified as "Historic Monument" since September, 2009.
