The museum holds an important collection of manuscripts, military archives, portraits, paintings, sculptures, books about General Dumas, Alexandre Dumas father, Alexandre Dumas son, and their relatives. The museum also holds manuscripts and archives of the writer Charles-Albert Demoustier (1760-1801) born in Villers-Cotterêts. The museum has a studio collection of the Cotterezian painter Marie-Joséphine Nicolas (1845-1903), member of the French artists, student of Chaplin.
