Donjon de Saintines
96 rue du chateau saintines
The so-called dungeon is in fact a tower-door, the only vestige of the completely destroyed medieval castle.
The history of the Château de Saintines begins in the 11th century. At that time, the lands of Saintines belonged to the royal jurisdiction and are part of the dependencies of the royal castle of Verberie. Fortified by the 100-year war, the castle of Saintines suffered such damage that it was practically destroyed.
It was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century by the Deveaux family. Witness to the passage of great names of history, it becomes, to the revolution, national good. Abandoned at the beginning of the twentieth century the keep is witnesses of the two world wars. In 1951 it was added to the additional inventory of historical monuments. We offer you a guided tour in the park, tracing the history of this place.
