Built in 1876, the former municipal gymnasium has been occupied by Le Gymnase since 2003. Founded in 1983 and certified Centre de Développement Chorégraphique National in 2017, Le Gymnase works to support choreographic creation through a varied educational offering and the reception of artists in residence.

Built between 1876 and 1878 on the initiative of the City of Roubaix, with the intention of offering a place to primary schools where to do the sport, practise head office of gymnastics Roubaisienne during many years, then theatre, The Gymnasium is an emblematic building(ship) of Roubaix, registers since 1997 on the additional Inventory of historic monuments. Since 2003, he(it) shelters the Centre of Choreographic Development of Roubaix Hauts-de-France, to which he(it) gave his(its) name: The Gymnasium ¦ CDC.
